Every day Shomrim members receive calls for assistance and selflessly take it upon themselves to help out. This is done without any regard for the unforeseeable trouble a volunteer can get mixed up in resulting from this.

Be it an accident, or that of being accused of harming someone.

Unfortunately the precedent has been set with the case that Shomrim of Crown Heights is now facing following the attempt to resolve a dispute which resulted in the arrest of six volunteers who are now facing charges, and were forced to retail legal counsel out of their own pocket resulting in tens of thousands of dollar in damages to these volunteers personally.

It is for this reason that the Shomrim Defense Fund has been established, the give our volunteers the peace of mind that they will have the financial means behind them in the event that such a situation repeats itself, and these volunteers not have to worry about such a matter when responding to your calls for assistance.
